Congratulations, Dorothea Thompson

Bray & Krais are proud to announce the promotion of our colleague Dorothea Thompson to the role of Partner – and Head of our market-leading Branding & Trade Marks Department.

Dorothea (Dot to most) joined Bray & Krais as a Trainee back in 2015, finding her way out of the administration of her previous firm (a West-End media and entertainment practice). She then swiftly established her role as a practical, down-to-earth commercial solicitor across the music and entertainment industries, working for a range of clients including established and emerging talent, producers, composers, record labels, distributors, music publishers, managers, authors, influencers, content creators, sportspeople, and entrepreneurs.

At the same time, using a combination of sector-specific understanding, practical experience, and technical excellence, Dorothea has developed the firm’s Branding & Trade Marks Department into a specialist in-house service for both existing and new clients. Our full-service team offers a unique approach to branding matters of all types. This includes product placement/equipment supply to long-term collaborative partnerships and co-created product businesses, alongside traditional and innovative merchandising and other licensing arrangements) and trade mark and brand protection, exploitation, and enforcement (including registration of names and logos, trade mark enforcement and infringement actions, domain name disputes, portfolio management and brand strategy.

She increasingly advises on the various intersections between these areas and offers specialist support as external counsel to large companies/projects dealing with numerous brands and sub-brands, such as sports clubs, branding consultants, theatre producers, live promoters, and talent agencies.

We are pleased to recognise the long-term contribution Dorothea has made to the firm, and excited to see the continued growth of her practice across the creative industries.
